Name: Ryou doesn't have a cannon last name, so I just say it's Tanaka. Ryou Tanaka. 
Series: Scarlet, by Madarame Hiro.
Canon Standing: Post series, after the Iron Chief Competition.
Age: Ryou's age is never specifically stated, his he is a college student. I would place him roughly at 20-22.
Birthday & Astrology Sign: Ryou doesn't have a cannon birthday, so I've placed him at March 15th, making him a Pieces.

Personality:

First of all, Ryou is cripplingly shy. He never approaches people, and can even exert caution when he is the one being approached. Ryou is so used to being lonely that he almost doesn't know what to do with other people around. Though he wishes to break out of his loneliness, he has no idea how to approach others.

What it really boils down to? The boy is socially awkward.

At the first show of kindness from a stranger, Ryou starts building attachment (and he builds it very quickly).  He doesn't take him long at all to fall in love with Akio when the boy starts taking care of him. I believe this hints as to how painfully affection starved Ryou is; he is a victim of childhood neglect, and reacts powerfully when people actually pay attention to him.

This is perhaps the root of his sexual promiscuity. It is not so much that Ryou wants to go out and sleep with a bunch of woman, but he doesn't really know how to say no. They lavish him with the attention he craves (most likely because of his good looks and sweet nature), and he therefore feels as though he must do as they say. He obviously feels bad about it, but he doesn't know how to stop.

With issues like this, it's no wonder that Ryou is such an emotional wreck. He'll burst into tears at the slightest provocation. When the smallest thing goes wrong, he cries. When he's too happy, he cries. The boy is always on the edge of a breakdown, just waiting for the last little push.

The short and sweet of it? He's a major cry baby!

And on top of that, the poor guy is clumsy; constantly spilling this or dropping that. He isn't exactly skilled with his schoolwork either, and he's very insecure and unsure of himself. However, there is one thing that Ryou is very good at, and that happens to be...

... Sex. Ryou exists in a state of perpetual loneliness, so what does he do? The sleeps the fuck around! Woman mostly, but also the occasional man. Maybe it is only because Ryou does it so much, but he's incredibly good at getting down and dirty. His specialty is using his mouth, and he loves to make his lovers beg. You could almost call him sexually brutal, as he's a relentless top.

Ryou is also very prone to obsession. When he gets attached to people he can get into habits that are not terribly appropriate, such as walking Akio all the way to work, and then waiting for him all day until he finishes to walk him home (never-mind waiting extra in a snow storm). He can start to feel possessive, and driven to acts of violence such as raping Akio or slicing him up with a knife. Ryou may appear like a harmless pathetic crybaby, but he's actually quite unstable, and has it in him to be quite dangerous.

Most of the time, no one would suspect him of anything.

On an average day, Ryou is either quietly keeping to himself, or tagging a long after someone he's attached himself to. When Ryou is alone he is quiet, aloof, and detached. He is also fiercely lonely. Because he has no idea how to approach people, his social interactions are usually limited to those with the woman who approach him for sex. He doesn't get much practice with his social skills, which makes him very timid to approach others.

However, if Ryou is sharing company with someone he likes, it is completely different. He can be bubbly and helpful, as well as cheery. Ryou is much more comfortable in the presence of friends, so he is always delighted when new people approach him. He can be very needy though, and depends on any friends who will put up with him to help him out in many ways. Akio, for example, is shown helping Ryou with his laundry, homework, and cooking.

Backstory:

Ryou never really got any attention from his parents. They were constantly away working (thier jobs requiring them to move around a lot), and neither bothered to pay him much attention. He grew up never having made any friends. When others began to avoid him (thanks in most part to his good looks, a fact which Ryou is oblivious to) Ryou eventually stopped expecting anyone to ever talk to him. He became very shy because of this, and remained so even into his college years.

Ryou attends collage in Japan (presumably because his parent's work demanded they move yet again) where he met Akio. Akio noticed Ryou was having trouble with the provided chopsticks, and offered him a spoon. From there on out, Ryou was pretty much always at Akio's side. Ryou was just so thrilled to have someone to interact with. Akio soon discovered how hopeless Ryou was at absolutely everything. He learned that Ryou was terribly clumsy, inept at his school work, incapable of cooking for himself, and generally speaking just plain helpless. I think this also hints at the severity of his childhod neglect; I believe it is logical to say he doesn't know how to take care of himself because he was never taught.

So, Akio begins to look out for Ryou, and it isn't long until Ryou geys pretty damn attached to him. Ryou asks Akio out, and (after briefly rejecting him) Akio agrees. They even continue to date even though Ryou would often sleep with girls. One in particular seemed determined to keep Ryou to herself, and tried to brake up Akio and Ryou with her own evil interference. Ryou never told her to stop, when she told Akio to leave them alone, and in fact sat beside her and left with her at the occasion it was said, but would later returned to beg Akio to take him back.

Ryou became obsessed. He followed Akio, visited his apartment every day and spoke to him through his closed door. Eventually, the woman suggested Ryou kill Akio for her, and Ryou was so distraught he actually tried it. He snuck into Akio's apartment and jumped him as he was coming in the door. Ryou then raped Akio, and then cut him up with an utility knife.

Thankfully, one of Akio's friends came over (worried Akio didn't answer his phone) and stopped Ryou from actually killing Akio. Once stopped, Ryou immediately broke into tears, apologizing over and over, and saying that he figured if Akio didn't want him anymore, then he may as well just kill him. Ryou explained he thought he could kill Akio, and that would make him his completely.

This line pretty much won over Akio, though his friend was still distrustful (for what I think are some pretty fair reasons).

Soon later, Ryou has moved all of his stuff into Akio's apartment (without asking, of course), and starts living with him. He is very sexually desperate almost all the time, which is (based om my interpretation, the only way he knows to experience affection), and tries to overcompensate to make up for raping Akio. He becomes even more  attached to him, and begins walking Akio to his job every day and waiting loyally until he gets off work. This I think boarders a little creepy, but Akio doesn't seem to disturbed.

One day, Ryou even waits outside through a snowstorm and gives himself a terrible cold. Akio is not pleased, and yells at him, but also tells him he loves him. They have a romantic moment, which ends about when Ryou ends up grinding against Akio for some sexual release, mindlessly seeking pleasure like a pet in heat. Akio shouts at him halfheartedly, and it seems as though they are both happy.

Akio realizes Ryou may stray from him again, but is happy to be with him.

Canon Weapons|Items: None; Ryou will probably need some training! He's really clumsy though, he'll need something that doesn't take a gentle hand. Maybe a club of some kind...

Canon Baggage: Ryou doesn't have much in the way of extraordinary possessions. I'm thinking that all he will have with him is a duffel of his own clothes, and a photograph of his boyfriend, Akio.

So uhm... I don't really know what I expected, suddenly being taken from home, b-but... I definitely didn't expect to get so many little gadgets. This watch looks so expensive! I better be careful not to break it...

...I don't even know who I'm talking to right now...

Akio, if you can hear this, come find me! I think I'm really really lost, and I need you to come get me! These people seem to know who I am, and gave me all of this stuff, but I think they might have me confused with someone else. I don't think I'm supposed to be here!

And... well, even if I am supposed to be here, they wouldn't bring me and not you Akio, right...?

Right, Akio....?

[He sighs, deep and heavy as if something weighed heavily on his mind. When Ryou spoke next, it was mostly to himself.]

You're not...mad at me, are you...?

[The feed goes dead.]

3rd Person | Prose Example

Ryou hated his room. In fact, hate was not nearly strong enough of a word. Like it wasn't bad enough that he was suddenly so far away from home, taken from the only person who ever really cared about him, they had to give him a small, lonely little room.

Memories of his childhood stung his eyes, threatening tears. Ryou curled tighter around himself, trying to tuck his long lanky form under the too-small blanket he had dragged from his room. This was the third night in a row he'd opted to sleep in the common living room as opposed to his own bed.

At least he could hear the others, now and then. There was minimal noise that night as Ryou lay, unable to sleep, and starred at the whirring fan. Every few minutes he'd check his watch for messages, just in case it didn't alert him. Akio might message him any time, he had to keep alert about it!

Otherwise... otherwise he'd probably start to think that he was there alone, and that just wasn't something Ryou wanted to let himself think.
